Herod's tomb and grave site discovered

The hot archaeological news of the moment, announced today, is the tomb of Herod the Great has been found. Josephus had placed its location in Herodium, a fortified palace built by Herod about 12 km south of Jerusalem. The Romans destroyed it in 71 CE. Archaeologists have been searching the site for about fifty years, and the discover, Prof. Ehud Netzer, has been digging since 1972 at the site.
